Küsnacht Re-style

Our clients live in a sun-filled home with a leafy outlook and a beautiful view of Lake Zürich. Our job was to present a concept of custom products that would improve functionality of the lounge, especially allowing for more seating when entertaining. In addition, we wanted to define the space while creating a warm, welcoming room for our clients to relax in, watch a film, read a book, or simply gather.

We started off by framing the walls with dark window treatments that pool on the floor and adding a large tone in tone custom rug made out of recycled plastic bottles in a viscose optic. Both textiles not only soften up the tile flooring while improving the acoustics, but they also bring a flair of understated luxury to the room and ground it. A light brown Farrow & Ball tone on two of the walls. We went for black Belgian functional custom furniture pieces: a slider side table to fit next to the sofa armrest and a round coffee table with an ottoman that can be housed under it in combination with the sofa fabric. These elements are light-weight and can be moved around with ease as needed. Last but not least, we used the repetition technique to style the space harmoniously: dry red florals to integrate the Egg armchair, large linen cushions with details in black like the furniture and TV, a throw out of mohair wool in the tones of existing artwork, and a tray and lanterns in a brushed gold finish.
